Vote Climate U.S. PAC Mission and Approach

Our Mission

Vote Climate U.S. PAC works to elect candidates to get off fossil fuels, transition to clean, renewable, energy and put a fee on carbon, in order to slow climate change and related weather extremes.

Our Approach

While our hope for the future is bright, scientists say we are facing an emergency situation with climate change. Our political leaders are not taking action. That is why Vote Climate U.S. PAC must elect climate-action candidates to the U.S. congress.

Our ultimate goal of passing a federal carbon fee is the single, most critical step we can take toward addressing climate change. It starts with electing the candidates to get it done.

Voter’s Guide

We have an ambitious goal of developing a, first-of-its-kind, national Voter’s Guide, giving every incumbent and challenger for a seat in the U.S. House and U.S. Senate a – Climate Calculation – a score for voters to take to the polls in November. Our Climate Calculations, ranging from Climate Hero to Climate Zero, will help each voter in America to vote climate. Including incumbents and challengers makes our Voter’s Guide unique. We are also going beyond votes to assess leadership and positions on putting a fee on carbon, making our Voter’s Guide a standout.

Climate Heroes, Zeroes, Priority and Endorsed Candidates

Our approach in 2018 will focus on our national Voter’s Guide which will name Climate Heroes and Zeroes and analyze the electoral State of the Climate in America candidate-by-candidate and state-by-state. Our Voter’s Guide will identify the most critical climate races in the country and will indicate the candidates Vote Climate U.S. PAC chooses for endorsement. We will promote our Voter’s Guide in 2018 by producing ads and making media buys.

In 2016 Vote Climate U.S. PAC identified candidates for priority support. We produced ads and made media buys in targeted districts to help elect climate-action candidates. We endorsed leaders in the U.S. House and U.S. Senate in recognition of their leadership. Read on for more details and to see some of our ads we have used, including Holy Bleep Mabel and Bliss or This.

Holy BLEEP Mabel

Holy BLEEP Mabel featured 2, 30-second, TV ads staring the quirky couple, Mabel and Manny, who find themselves in various Holy BLEEP Mabel moments as they experience climate-related, weather extremes like floods and wildfires in their own backyard. These ads reached almost 1.2 million people in priority districts with astonishing video-view rates between 70-80%.

Bliss or This was a meme campaign and slide show which contrasts a positive future where we take political action on climate change with a bleak future where we do not. It reached almost 63,000 people with an amazing view rate of almost 70%.

Vote Climate U.S. PAC’s National Voter’s Guide

Vote Climate U.S. PAC’s 2018 priority project is a national, one-of-a-kind Voter’s Guide that will help you, your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers to Vote Climate in the mid-term elections. This is a unique Voter’s Guide since we’re going beyond votes to assess leadership and position on putting a fee on carbon – for incumbents and challengers. We need your help to develop and promote our Voter’s Guide.

Targeting Priority Candidates

Vote Climate U.S. PAC identifies incumbents and challengers for top priority support, with the goal of increasing our support in the U.S. House and U.S. Senate to pass a federal carbon fee. This year, voters can look for Climate Heroes and Zeroes priority and endorsed candidates in our Voter’s Guide to assess who to vote for and who to oppose in the mid-term elections.

In 2016, we ran our Holy BLEEP Mabel series and our Bliss or This campaign in a paid, social media campaign, in priority districts to raise the issue of climate change and our priority candidate’s profiles. These ads reached almost well over 1.26 million voters in priority districts. We need your donation in 2018 to make our Voter’s Guide a central part of the mid-term election debate.

Endorsed Candidates

By using our 2018 Voter’s Guide, voters can choose between Climate Heroes and Climate Zeroes and vote out those who do not support climate-action. With your donation, we hope to raise the funds to give more assistance to Climate Heroes in critical districts.

Ads

Ad Production — In 2016, Vote Climate U.S. PAC produced TV ads and a meme campaign for a paid, social media campaign on behalf of our priority candidates. The cost to produce ads is high. With your donation, we can produce new ads for the 2018 mid-term elections.

Media and Social Media Buys – We raise funds to make targeted, social media buys in priority congressional districts to elect Climate Heroes and defeat Climate Zeroes. Ultimately we hope to see federal legislation to slow climate change, but we must change the political landscape first.

Social media campaigns are effective, but expensive. We can’t do it without you. Donate today to help Vote Climate U.S. PAC produce our Voter’s Guide, ads and make media buys in our targeted districts, with the ultimate goal of passing federal climate legislation to slow climate change and related weather extremes.
